GUIDED TOUR OF VINIEGRA AND ARTE VACA MUSEUM
DATE: Sunday, May 17, from 11:00 AM to 5:00 PM
LOCATION: Casa Montero, Viniegra de Abajo
EXPERIENCIE:
-
Self-guided visit to the Arte Vaca Museum, from 10:30 AM to 12:00 PM and from 2:00 PM to 5:00 PM: Visitors will be able to explore the Arte Vaca space, a former stable and its adjoining gardens within a late 19th-century mountain house, as well as the exhibition Flora Memoriae, a community herbarium that seeks to honour the uses, customs, anecdotes and memories of the people who inhabit the Alto Najerilla region (La Rioja). Open to the general public.
-
Guided tour through the streets of Viniegra, 11:00 AM: Viniegra de Abajo is a jewel of the Siete Villas, seemingly frozen in time. Unlike other purely rustic mountain villages, Viniegra stands out for its cosmopolitan elegance, shaped by the legacy of the “Indianos” and their palatial residences. This creates a remarkable contrast between traditional mountain architecture and the stately 19th-century mansions that define the village. Walking through its streets is a truly sensory experience. The route follows an impeccably preserved medieval cobbled layout, accompanied by the constant sound of the Urbión River and its fountains. Viniegra de Abajo is officially recognised as one of The Most Beautiful Villages in Spain, thanks to the perfect harmony between stone, the wooden balconies, and the surrounding wild natural landscape.
-
Traditional Caldereta (Community Stew) 2:00 PM: If you wish to complete the gastronomic experience, you can enjoy a traditional caldereta served with bread and wine included at a price of 10€ per person with prior registration on our website, or 15€ if purchased at the distribution point.
